Rexford J. Wait
President and Founder
Control Technology, Inc.
After leaving the family honey business to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Rexford Wait graduated college in 1982 and immediately started working for Fishbeck and Moore until 1984. Starting Control Technology, Inc. just two years after graduating college, Rex has had an extensive career. When Control Technology first opened its doors in an old ice cream factory in 1984, it developed controls for a range of clients, from HP to develop their inkjet cartridges to Callaway to develop two of their three golf ball lines. After expanding its horizons to include fuel cells, power generation, solar cooling, cogeneration, and central plant, to name a few, Rex moved Control Technology from Miramar to Vista in the early 90s.
Since this move, Rex has led the company to successfully complete over 6,500 projects on eight continents. Several of which have received recognition including the 1998 award for Power Plant of the Year in Renton, WA. Control Technology has also completed twelve thermal storage units in Saudi Arabia, installed more fuel cells than anyone in the U.S., including all the fuel cells for Enron, and developed controls for Qualcomm for developing four different cell phone lines. Rex, in addition to owning Control Technology, is also one of the pilots for the company’s Beechcraft Baron. While energy is claimed to be his core business, Rex also enjoys golfing, fishing, and traveling.
